Comments : We have adopted a 1 year old Mareema called Mack from friends whose relationship split. We had previously owned a Bernese mountain dog and were ready for another pet. After a month of settling in he has turned out to be a great dog. They are amazingly flexible for a large breed , and he has a disarming smile when we first get home from work or when he greets friends. This involves baring his impressive array of teeth ! Alarming at first and funny thereafter. Is this a common trait ?? Would be great for detering potential intruders even though he'd be greeting them ! Love the breed . Dennis

Comments : I have a beautiful male maremma called Marmaduke duke for short, He is the most amazing breed in the world. He has had 4 previous owners since he was born I am the last of course :) I currently looking for a bitch that I can put him on, he is 13 months old and placid as they come. I have a couple of questions if u can help me. 1. Can I use wool wash on his fur to whiten the coat as he loves mud and horse manure :). 2. He also loves to bark of a night time when there's nothing around. I love this breed I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves them Thanks :)

Comments : Lisa we adopted our wonderful Maremma Josh (he had been called Roy and had Aswin in his kennel name)13 years ago, He has been the most beautiful companion and has greatly enriched our lives. He died peacefully on Friday and will be greatly missed by us and our whole family. When we walked him in the afternoons he brought a smile to the faces of adults and children who gave him the nickname of Polar Bear. He remained vigilant and affectionate, looking after us, his flock, right to the end. What a privilege to have such a dog in your life. We will miss him greatly. Thank you for raising such exceptional dogs. Love, Adrienne & Lindsay

Comments : Hi. We have a 2 1/2 year old male and a 2 year old female. They are fantastic dogs. They are more pets than they are guard dogs. We live on 15 acres. My problem is that our female dog has not had a litter yet and according to most breeders at this age they usually have had 2 - 3 litters. No the male is not a dud. He does his job. She has been pregnant but at about 4 - 5 weeks she gets an infection and then losses them I guess due to the medication she has to take. How do I stop this from happening e.g different diet or what??????

Comments : We've just met a male Maremma 18 months old, a rescued dog, with a view to adopting. I've done my homework and would love a Maremma but am concerned that this one would take a long time to overcome his fears from whatever caused his abandonment, he's extremely aloof. As I really want a Maremma I wondered how much a pup cost? A pup might be better for bonding with our older cats.
